Ever since I finished normal updates on this blog I thought I should turn it into a free e-book. But as life happened I never took the time to do it. Finally, with the arrival of the new AI openclaw bot I decided to give it a try. I fed the bot everything I knew about race directing- these blogs, hundreds of files/budgets/emails/documents and the outline I had written for the book. Although it wasn't without pain, and some cost, it finally helped me organize all my thoughts on race directing into a comprehensive book. It's not flashy or without formatting errors, but the information within was all learned over almost 20 years of race directing, race timing, and team leadership.
Then AI helped me do something I never could have done before- write an app to accompany that book. Currently the app is with a few friends to help find all the bugs, but shortly we will publish a Race Director's app that is preloaded with all the checklists in this book. You will be able to add your team, so that everyone knows exactly what is going on with each task on your checklist.
I know this book won't reach millions, but if it helps a couple people avoid extra expenses, prevents painful mistakes, and maybe even makes them a few more $s then I think it was worth it! If you read the book, feel free to leave your comments below.
